Choosing to add a pet to your family is a big step! Pets add lots of laughter, fun, and companionship to our lives, but they are also a big responsibility.
There are many factors to consider before adopting a dog, such as your lifestyle, personality, financial situation, and housing situation. If you’re considering adopting a dog, you may want to ask yourself a few questions:
If you’ve answered these questions and feel that adding one of our dogs to your family is the next step, please read our Adoption Procedures below and fill out our Adoption Application.
Also, take a look at our Dogs in Program page and make sure to note each dog’s designation. Adoptable means that we’re still actively looking for the right person/family for the dog. Pending Adoption means that we’ve matched the dog with an adopter; you may still apply for a dog who is Pending Adoption, as adoptions sometimes fall through, but please understand that the dog is most likely unavailable.
Also, please note that all of our rescue dogs are fostered in private homes. By policy, we require an approved Adoption Application before sharing details about foster home locations and/or scheduling meet-and-greets.
TSCR is constantly processing intakes and adoption applications, so a dog that is listed on our website may have a pending adoption by the time that your application is approved. Don’t worry! We’ll continue to work with you to find your next canine family member.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and checked for other health problems prior to adoption. In order to continue our rescue efforts and help more dogs, we do require an adoption donation, which varies in cost depending on the age and health of the individual dog as well as their veterinary costs.
Note: Adopters should only pay the adoption fee for their new rescue dog after the entire adoption application review and interview process has been completed—and they have received written confirmation from an Adoption Team member that they have been approved to adopt the dog.
