Meet Sheldon! This handsome, resilient 7-year-old gentleman is a walking testament to what love and good veterinary care can do. Sheldon arrived in rescue needing a massive amount of medical TLC, and while he has proven to be an absolute champion, he will require a dedicated adopter who is fully prepared to manage a medical needs dog.
Sheldon has successfully slimmed down, gained muscle, healed up from major ear surgery, and is winning his battle against a fungal skin condition. Because of his past severe neglect, his health journey is an ongoing commitment. His forever family must be ready to partner closely with a veterinarian to maintain his strict health regimens, manage his ongoing skin care, and handle his medical expenses.
Sheldon is a sophisticated fellow with refined tastes, especially when it comes to dinnertime. He appreciates a high-quality meal routine and isn’t afraid to let you know he likes the good stuff! Once he feels safe, his sweet and affectionate personality truly shines.
The Medical Mindset: His adopters must be organized, financially stable, and deeply committed to staying on top of daily medications, vet checkups, and specific lifestyle restrictions.
Feline Friends: Sheldon is currently fostering with “dog-savvy” cats and doing wonderfully! Because he can be a bit sensitive and easily intimidated by bolder cats, he would do best with feline roommates who are calm and happy to give him his space.
Canine Companions: Sheldon shares his foster home with two resident dogs. While he isn’t looking for a high-energy playmate, he deeply appreciates the quiet companionship of other calm dogs and finds comfort in their presence.
Routine & Anxiety Support: Sheldon is currently taking a daily dose of Prozac, which acts as his little “bravery boost” to help manage his daily anxiety. He loves his people deeply and will do best with an adopter who can help him feel secure when transitioning into a new environment.
Sheldon has overcome so much and has so much love left to give. If you have a quiet home, a big heart, and the readiness to champion a special-needs dog, Sheldon is waiting to meet you!
