About Garrett

Garrett is a playful and sweet puppy who loves to play with his people and foster siblings. He is a playful dog who enjoys chasing thrown toys, playing tug-of-war with a rope, and playing keep-away. He also enjoys long walks and is a good leash-walker, staying by your side unless he sees a squirrel or another dog. However, he can easily be called back to you when needed. Garrett gets along well with other dogs and dog-savvy cats, and he loves chasing squirrels and birds in the yard.
When he’s feeling particularly affectionate, he has been known to try and climb into his foster parents’ laps and give them kisses in the morning. Garrett wants to be with his people at all times and may cry if he’s left alone or can’t find them. However, he does find companionship with his foster siblings when they are not around. For this reason, it would be best for Garrett to be placed in a home with another playful dog or the option for doggie daycare instead of being left alone for long periods of time.
Garrett is a smart dog who knows how to sit, down, stay, come, and wait, and he is learning “leave it.” He is crate-trained for when his foster family is away and will retreat to his crate for quiet time or sleep. He is house-trained and will bark at the door to signal that he needs to go outside. He is generally quiet in the house, except for a few play barks while interacting with his foster siblings, and he likes to vocalize when getting good belly and butt rubs. In the yard, Garett tends to bark more and may need some training to curb this behavior. He is also afraid of flights of stairs, but will willingly go up a few steps to enter the house. Lastly, Garrett is not comfortable on hardwood or slippery floors, but he will walk on wood to get from one area rug to another.
